The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
Samuel was searching for King Saul’s successor and was basing it on looks. The Lord then set him straight – it’s not what is on the outside, it is what is on the inside that counts.
There is much shallowness in our society today, including a lot of image posturing. Let’s remember to look behind all of that and instead look at the heart of whatever we are trying to evaluate. We should use that same criteria during this election year.
